Still Here

Yes, I am still here. Things have been hectic around here. Last week I had a relapse of the same back pain I had last fall. It resulted in another trip to the emergency room since it happened after office hours. So I have been on antibiotics and pain pills again with another doctor's appointment next week. This last weekend we had a birthday party for my Mom who turned 92. Almost all the family was there. Aunt Jane Ellen came and even Uncle Chappell. Unfortunately the day they went to The Ponderosa I was still sick and in pain and laying on the couch. Here is a picture of "us girls" that Allison took on Tuesday. I love it. I've still been knitting, and ripping out. I am working on the Multmona Shawl but am mad at it right now because after frogging three times I still am getting an incorrect stitch count. Socks are always on the needles. Can you believe tomorrow is May already!

In These Times

I am a political junkie. I admit it. I love to read history. I love reading about the people who have served our country in various ways be that in the military, holding political office or just being a grassroots involved American. We are the luckiest people in the whole world to live here in the United States. Today I am linking a website that I hope will be checked out. It is at http://www.constitutingamerica.org/ . We live in a time of political upheaval. Factions are arguing and assailing each other. Who is right/correct? The answer to that depends on who you talk to. So maybe part of the answer comes from knowing our history. I remember in 5th grade we had a special class for six weeks or so studying The Constitution. I had to memorize The Preamble and I still remember it to this day. Unfortunately in many places today The Constitution is not studied in school or at least not a lot of time is spent on it. We should spend time on it as it is a very important document for our country. If you have a question as to if senators or legislators are ignoring The Constitution to pass anything that they like or will benefit them but is not in line with The Constitution how can you know unless you have read the document yourself. So check out this site. I am linking it on the side links also. There you can print off and read The Constitution and even The Federalist Papers if you choose to. Become informed on our precious rights as citizens of this Great Nation. When we know our history we can know how to proceed to our future. Not just ours but our kids and our grandkids. DFW Fiber Fest

This last weekend was the DFW Fiber Fest. I went with my knitting group which can be a good thing or a bad thing. You either have friends to help keep you in control and not buy out the house or you have them urging you on because a particular yarn is so soft or the right color etc. Since I am still having computer issues the pictures here are not very good. Well that is putting it mildly. I got two skeins of Madeline Tosh alpaca. The color is Posy and the picture is just awful. Hopefully later I will have a better one. The color is so lucious and of course being alpaca it is soft beyond belief. They had a Multnoma Shawl on display. Now I have a Multnoma on the needles but when I saw this yarn I was not able to resist temptation. Amy told me I would need two skeins to make the shawl. I am a sucker for shawls and socks. So I came home and put the other shawl on a holder and cast on the new one. This yarn is so lucious. Now I am going to try and be good and only use stash yarn for my knitting. By the way, everyone knows that sock yarn does not count as stash yarn, right?

Today

I am still having issues with my laptop and have not yet been able to download any knitting pictures so I am sure I will be having a lot of catching up to do on them. Today I got together with Allison, Jo, Scout, Nana, and Blah Blah for lunch. Yes that is a table knife that Jo is holding. Uncle Daisey says girls should know how to use all kinds of knives and introduced both Jo and Scout to them at an early age. Of course this is a running joke with us. After lunch we went to Target where Scout was able to have a big cookie. We brought one back to Jo who had gone shopping with Blah Blah. Knitting pictures hopefully coming soon.

Peeps

I have never liked Peeps. Too squishy. I would not eat them in a box, I would not eat them with a fox. I would not eat them here or there I would not eat them anywhere. Oops, slipped into some green eggs and ham there. Give me a chocolate bunny instead. That is until this year. Scout likes Peeps, especially the bunnies since she is a bunny girl. Of course one goes a long way with her. Yesterday we ran by Target to get last minute Easter things. As you can see the grandma in me weakened and Peeps appeared in our basket. I snapped this picture which looked like Scout is giving the indication that Peeps were not for sharing. Wrong. Guess who has decided Peeps are pretty good. So now we share them.

A New Adventure

Today Uncle Daisey is moving to Lubbock. It is about a five and a half hour drive from here. This will be the first time that he has been too far to be able to just drop in on the weekend or on his day off. I have varying degrees of feelings about this. I hate that he is going but I am thrilled that he is going. Not make any sense? Well he has always been here for all the events and get togethers. Jo has adored him forever. He has always been the one who was close if I needed help with my car, being stranded on the side of the road, or had computer trouble. I will so miss not being able to see him all the time. But...I am so thrilled that he is being promoted and the fact that after a very serious motorcycle wreck that he was healed and can live a normal life...even if it is what seems like a long way away. Here is a picture of him and Jo and Scout yesterday. We all went out for one last lunch together before he left. Good luck Matthew. I love you bunches. Oh, yeah, remember to call your Mother.

Still Grumbling About The Computer

I have not been able to get my computer fixed yet so I feel almost lost without being able to check things more frequently. Here is a pix of Scout wearing the crown I made Jo. I have not been able to get my pix up on Ravelry because of the computer issues. I did not make Scout a crown because she did not like hats. Well like everything else that changed. I am now casting on a crown for her. I downloaded the pattern from KnitPicks. It is called the Loved Crown by Talitha Kuomi. It is very easy and so cute. I did Jo's out of Vanna yarn in #142 Rose and #101 Pink. I am now working on Scout's in Vanna yarn in #145 Eggplant and #157 Duckie. The pix is of Scout wearing Jo's crown. More pix to follow.
